![]() << Back March 20, 2010 Capital Jiu-Jitsu Makes its mark Capital Jiu-Jitsu represented the Royce Gracie Network at Operation Octagon 10, on March 20, 2010, in Dulles, Virginia. This was a record event for Operation Octagon, with 18 fights and thousands in attendance. Capital Jiu-Jitsu also broke a record and brought over 300 students and fans to the event. And with good reason! Capital also had the largest fight team at the show. Here are the official results:
Muay Thai Competitors
Eliud Arbelo @ Catchweight VS Tyler Boswell = Boswell wins by Split Decision (This fight will not go on Eliud's record, as it was at a Catchweight. Eliud gave up weight and reach, and still pulled out a split decision! Way to go Eliud!) Thomas Edwards @ 170 lbs. VS Michael Kalathas = Edwards wins by TKO Round 1 (Michael Kalathas broke his foot on Tommy's shin of steel! It is hard to imagine that just over a year ago Tommy weighed over 300 lbs. Everyone at Capital couldn't be more proud.) Carlos Lopez @ 145 lbs. VS Jimmy Mackey = Lopez wins by Unanimous Decision (Carlos put on a clinic during this fight - it was truly a beautiful display, both of Thai culture and the 'Science of Eight Limbs'.) Mixed Martial Arts Roland Barringer @ Lightweight 155 lbs. VS Kevin Rohrer = Rohrer wins by armbar at 2:01 in Round 1 (Roland looked amazing as he came out! Major respect goes out to Rohrer for winning against one of the most talented local coaches and competitors that I know!) Chad Malone @ Middleweight 185 lbs. - TITLE FIGHT - VS Zed Mitchell = Malone wins by Guillotine at 3:57 in Round 1 (We knew that Zed could hit hard, and Chad found that out first hand! Lot's of credit to Zed for being such a tough opponent. I know that Chad is enjoying his post fight chocolate cake <icon_smile.gif>.) Kevin Smith @ Lightweight 155 lbs. VS Damien Mickey = Smith by RNC at 0:41 of Round 1 (Not bad for the old man <icon_smile.gif>. At 40 Kevin is tougher than any 20 year old I know! Congrats on the impressive win!) Matt Tudor @ Lightweight 155 lbs. = Matt's competitor DIDN'T SHOW! All that hard work and the guy chose to not show up. |
